Wednesday, March 16, a well-filled Elfstedenhal was the setting for spectacular sprint competitions, where a nice mix of national and international top skaters together with an enthusiastic audience were the ingredients for a wonderful evening of sprinting. We look back with great enthusiasm on the first edition of the VIP Lounge in the midfield.
Wietze, as proud chairman of the foundation board, looks back on a very successful edition in which great strides were made with the impressive efforts of the board. It was the Dutch ladies who held the reins all evening. In each round, Femke Kok, Dione Voskamp and Anna Boersma were the three fastest over 100 meters. In the final, Dione Voskamp, with a time of 10.50, pulled ahead. In the men’s event, it was Ronald Mulder, who bid farewell to the skating world during The Silver Ball, who recorded the fastest time in the first lap. He was stranded in the semifinals, where Norwegian Magnussen and Italians Rosanelli and Nenzi were too fast for him. In the final, Magnussen managed to beat the Italians and took the victory. On behalf of the organization, we congratulate Dione Voskamp and Bjørn Magnussen on the win!
We hope you enjoyed this new format, the atmosphere and decorations and the fun before and after the game. Once again we would like to thank all the guests for your presence. The official aftermovie of De Zilveren Bal 2022 is online, if you haven’t seen it yet click below to watch it. The enthusiasm of the audience, skaters and sponsors gives us energy to already look ahead to another edition of The Silver Ball. Traditionally, we want to be the smashing season finale. As soon as the international calendar is announced we will take our place in the calendar and we would love to see you back at the world’s fastest skating show!
